Sudanese man gets life imprisonment for forging Kuwaiti citizenship

The Criminal Court has sentenced a Sudanese man to life imprisonment and ordered him to pay a fine of 480,000 dinars after finding him guilty of forging the Kuwaiti citizenship in 1993.

The accused obtained the Kuwaiti nationality under Article 3, claiming to be of “unknown parentage.” He was later employed at the Ministry of Defense but was dismissed for repeated absenteeism. In 2010, he left Kuwait and returned to Sudan.

The case resurfaced when the Nationality Investigation Department uncovered inconsistencies in his records, reports Al-Rai daily.

Following coordination with Sudanese authorities through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, investigators obtained official documents confirming that the accused was, in fact, a Sudanese national living with his family.

The Council of Ministers had issued a decision in November 2024 to withdraw his Kuwaiti citizenship after confirming the forgery, which had remained undetected from 1993 until 2024.
