Stolen SUV found in Kabd stable, two suspects in police custody, one on the run

Swift intervention by the Hawalli detectives thwarted the attempt members of a gang to dismantle a that was stolen from an expatriate which was parked on an open ground opposite his residence in Hawalli.

The thieves, allegedly used a duplicate key to steal the 2001 model American-made four-wheel-drive and hide it inside a stable in Kabd, reports Al-Anba daily.

According to a security source, the car’s owner filed a report at the Hawalli police station after he discovered the vehicle missing early in the morning. He stated that he had parked the car in the vicinity of his house, only to find it gone the next day.

Investigators launched a rapid search operation, utilizing surveillance footage that showed three men arriving in a saloon car. The footage showed two of them stealing the SUV using a duplicate key.

The suspects were quickly identified and arrested. During interrogation, they admitted to being part of a gang that targets older vehicles to steal, dismantle, and sell them for spare parts.

The third suspect is believed to be still at large, and the authorities have put his name on the wanted persons list.

The arrested individuals led detectives to the hidden vehicle in Kabd, allowing police to recover it before it was dismantled.

Further investigations are underway to uncover the full scope of the gang’s activities and any additional stolen vehicles or parts involved.
