Spanish Embassy in Kuwait ensures safety of nationals amid regional tensions

The Embassy of Spain in Kuwait has been closely monitoring developments in the Gulf region since February 28, coordinating with the Spanish Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the European Union, and other EU embassies in Kuwait, as well as the wider diplomatic community.

The Embassy has been diligently following security instructions and recommendations issued by Kuwaiti authorities and regularly conveying them to Spanish citizens residing in the country.

Updated contact lists and emergency hotlines have been maintained to ensure rapid communication. The safety and well-being of Spanish residents in Kuwait remain a top priority.

In its statement, the Embassy expressed condolences to the families of members of the Kuwaiti Army and Security Forces who lost their lives in the line of duty.

The embassy also thanked the Kuwaiti authorities and the Armed Forces for their efforts in protecting citizens and residents, as well as for their effectiveness in repelling attacks.

The Government of Spain has strongly condemned the indiscriminate attacks against Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries and other regional states and has endorsed United Nations Security Council Resolution 2817, which condemns such aggression.

To support Spanish citizens wishing to leave Kuwait, the Embassy organized several trips to Riyadh International Airport, chartering four buses between March 6 and 9. These transfers also accommodated other European Union citizens and foreign nationals seeking safe passage.

The Embassy of Spain in Kuwait remains fully operational and will gradually restore the full range of consular services as conditions allow.
