South Korea and the United Arab Emirates have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to expand defense cooperation in projects valued at more than $35 billion, according to a senior South Korean presidential official.
The agreement covers a wide range of defense sectors, including air defense systems, air force capabilities, and naval cooperation, reflecting growing strategic and military ties between the two countries.
Kang Hoon-sik, chief of staff to South Korean President Lee Jae Myung, announced the development upon returning to Seoul following an official visit to the UAE, according to Reuters.
He told reporters that the partnership is expected to strengthen long-term defense collaboration and open the door to large-scale joint projects between the two nations.
The memorandum underscores deepening security cooperation between Seoul and Abu Dhabi, as both countries seek to enhance defense readiness, expand technology partnerships, and strengthen strategic cooperation amid evolving regional and global security challenges.
