‘Social Affairs’ prepares to conclude national debt-relief campaign, 2,300 citizens benefit
The campaign has received widespread praise from beneficiaries, who commended the efficiency of the ministry’s procedures
Nearly eight months after launching its third national campaign on March 14, to collect donations to repay the debts of citizens, the Ministry of Social Affairs is preparing to conclude the initiative within the next two weeks by settling the debts of the fourth and final batch of debtors.
According to sources familiar with the campaign, over 14 million dinars have been spent so far, helping to free 2,300 citizens from financial burdens.
The Higher Committee for Debtors, chaired by Undersecretary Dr. Khaled Al-Ajmi, is currently compiling a list of citizens eligible for repayment in the final batch, whose debts range between 15,000 and 17,000 dinars, and submit it to the Sentences Execution Department at the Ministry of Justice to complete settlements according to established procedures.
The sources noted that dozens of debtors, with debts ranging between 5,000 and 15,000 dinars, had previously met repayment requirements, but delays in providing certain required documents postponed their disbursement.
These citizens have now received notifications via the “Sahel” application, confirming that their debts have been fully settled by the Department.
The campaign has received widespread praise from beneficiaries, who commended the efficiency of the ministry’s procedures and the work of the six Sharia committees tasked with reviewing cases, verifying eligibility, and ensuring timely disbursement.
