Social Affairs Ministry requests Central Bank to resume donations activity

The Acting Undersecretary of the Ministry of Social Affairs, Dr. Khaled Al-Ajmi, has formally addressed the Central Bank of Kuwait, requesting it to issue a circular to all local banks under its supervision, allowing the resumption of receiving donations for charitable societies and organizations.

The ministry’s letter calls for donations to be permitted in all forms, including deposits through money transfer companies, checks, bank transfers, online transactions, ATM deposits, standing payment orders and automatic bank deductions and deductions via bank websites, reports Al-Jarida daily.

This move follows a previous decision by the Ministry on April 28, which had suspended all forms of donations to associations and charities.

The current request signals a step toward restoring regulated donation channels, aimed at supporting charitable work while maintaining transparency and oversight.
