Social Affairs Ministry nears completion of service repricing plan to boost revenue

The ministry aims to shift from being primarily a provider of financial aid to becoming a revenue-generating institution, aligning with the government’s broader goal of reducing pressure on the public treasury by rationalizing expenditures and increasing income.

In line with Decree-Law No. 1/2025 on fees for public services, the Ministry of Social Affairs is finalizing its comprehensive review of all services it provides — both to the public and to employees — in preparation for submitting new pricing structures to the Ministry of Finance before early July.

According to Al-Jarida, most ministry sectors have completed their internal assessments to determine the financial value of their services.

These proposed fees will then be reviewed and filtered in coordination with the Ministry of Finance before submitting the report to the Council of Ministers for approval.

The repricing initiative is expected to impact various services, including a 100 dinars fee for public benefit association announcement requests; between 3 and five dinars for certificate or contract authentication and 3 dinars for each ‘To Whom It May Concern’ certificate.

This is in addition to fees for services provided to ministry employees, such as CV printing, ID card issuance, salary certificates, and employment continuity letters; increased fees for booking wedding halls and licensing nursery activities; fees for approving plans to build new halls or renovate existing buildings offered by donors and revised rates for using development centers under the Social Development Department.
