Social Affairs links 76 co-ops in major digital oversight drive

Dr. Sayed Issa, Acting Assistant Undersecretary for Financial, Administrative and Cooperation Affairs at the Ministry of Social Affairs, announced the successful completion of the first phase of electronically linking data from 76 cooperative societies.
The system achieved an accuracy rate of 95 to 100 percent in tracking strategic inventory, financial and administrative records, and other key data, reports Al-Jarida daily.
This initiative supports the government’s broader digital transformation goals, enabling real-time financial and administrative oversight — covering everything from salaries and payments to employee attendance and supplier records.
Although cooperatives retain full authority, any regulatory violations are now automatically flagged, and compliant reports can be digitally approved without manual review.
Issa also highlighted the need for more financial and administrative observers and emphasized the confidentiality of data access, restricted to authorized oversight personnel only.
He noted that this digitization will curb waste and manipulation, improving service quality, boosting sales and profits, and increasing shareholder dividends.
The second phase of the project will introduce an electronic inventory system to ensure the smooth flow of goods during audits.
A real-time central control room is already operational and will soon link to the Ministry of Commerce. The third phase will incorporate artificial intelligence, with support from Microsoft, to assist cooperative boards in making smarter financial and managerial decisions.
Issa concluded that full digital transformation will help eliminate unprofitable cooperatives, improve service delivery across regions, and enhance state revenues.
