Snow-capped charm, cultural festivals, warm hospitality await Kuwaiti tourists to Russia

Record influx of Kuwaiti visitors in 2024 highlights Moscow’s tourism push; 'goal is to make every Kuwaiti visitor feel both at home and inspired. Whether exploring the city’s heritage, enjoying family parks, or attending open-air concerts, guests from Kuwait are offered a safe, sophisticated, and unforgettable experience — one that bridges cultures and opens new horizons.'

In an atmosphere of snow-capped charm and vibrant cultural festivities, the Russian capital is opening its arms wide to Kuwaiti tourists, who are now visiting Moscow in unprecedented numbers. Combining historical grandeur with modern luxury, Moscow is quickly becoming a preferred destination for Gulf travelers, offering a dynamic blend of leisure, education, and entertainment.

According to the Moscow City Tourism Committee, approximately 13,900 Kuwaiti tourists visited Moscow during the first nine months of 2024—a tenfold increase compared to 2019. An estimated 98% of these travelers came for leisure, underlining the growing appeal of the city as a top-tier travel destination.

Addressing the challenges some international tourists face with traditional credit cards, Moscow has introduced the Yumani Tourist Card, an easy-to-use payment alternative. Visitors can register online using their mobile number (no Russian SIM required), collect their card from city centers, and top it up at local ATMs. The card supports QR code payments across most establishments, with generous limits of $2,500 per transaction and $5,000 per top-up.

Speaking to Q8 Press, a spokesperson from the Moscow Tourism Committee outlined the city’s top recommendations for Kuwaiti families — Zaryadye Park, Gorky Park, Sokolniki, and VDNKh offer a mix of nature, architecture, and interactive exhibits; Kolomenskoye and Tsaritsyno provide immersive experiences into Russia’s imperial history and entertainment hubs such as Moskvarium, Experimentanium Science Museum, Skazka Park, and Virtual Flight Around Moscow cater especially to children and teens.

Beyond the Kremlin lies hidden gems for those seeking less crowded yet enriching experiences, Moscow offers Patriarch’s Ponds – A literary and cultural neighborhood ideal for serene strolls; Aptekarsky Ogorod – A tranquil botanical garden founded by Peter the Great; State Museum of Oriental Art – Home to a rich collection of Islamic art and cultural relics and Moscow River Cruises – Scenic voyages that showcase the city’s skyline at sunset or night.

Halal food options are becoming increasingly available in Moscow, particularly around central hotels and major tourist sites. Many hotels offer halal meals upon request and employ Arabic-speaking staff or guides, easing communication for Kuwaiti guests.

Moscow is considered one of the safest cities in the world. Over 250,000 surveillance cameras operate across the city, and a dedicated Tourist Police Unit offers multilingual assistance in key tourist zones. Visitors can seek help for lost items, directions, or any emergencies.

Best Seasons to Visit

  • Summer (May–September): Moscow transforms into a city of festivals with the Summer in Moscow program, featuring live music, art installations, and historical reenactments across its many parks and squares.
  • Winter (December–February): Kuwaiti visitors especially enjoy the authentic snowy landscapes, holiday markets, and festive ambiance in decorated city streets and ice-covered parks.

Cultural Connections and Unique Events

Cultural events that attract Kuwaiti travelers include:

  • “Times and Ages” Historical Festival: A reenactment of various Russian historical periods.
  • “Flower and Garden” Festival: Outdoor exhibits of floral art and landscaping.
  • Bolshoi Theater performances, both indoors and outdoors during summer evenings.
  • Visits to GUM and TSUM for luxury shopping, often paired with sunset cruises along the Moscow River.

“Moscow’s goal is to make every Kuwaiti visitor feel both at home and inspired. Whether exploring the city’s heritage, enjoying family parks, or attending open-air concerts, guests from Kuwait are offered a safe, sophisticated, and unforgettable experience — one that bridges cultures and opens new horizons.”
As ties between Kuwait and Russia deepen through tourism, Moscow stands ready to offer its unique mix of history, modernity, and heartfelt hospitality to every Gulf traveler.
