Clean, clear, and glowing skin are the goals for this year since health and wellness moved to center stage following the global pandemic. This shift in people’s perception is here to stay as more and more of us choose to opt for healthier and high-performance ingredients in the products we use on our skin. Products and a routine that give a deeper meaning to our skin care regimes. Here are some skincare trends to think about for the Summer.

Keeping it Simple

The reality of busy lifestyles means most of us need simple and basic skin care routines with a minimalist approach. Skin experts say that less is more when it comes to skin care. By using a few good ingredients to keep your skin hydrated and rejuvenated you can go a long way. A good cleanser and toner are a must to keep skin clean during the Hot GCC summer months. Experts say that the first step to controlling blackheads and breakouts is a good cleanser and toner. It’s also important to ensure all your makeup is removed. Going to bed with makeup on, or traces of makeup, is a disaster for your skin in the long run.

Hydration

People are crazy for solutions tailored to their specific needs and skin type. With the advent of artificial intelligence it has become easier to suggest products/ingredients and combinations of ingredients that will be best suited to the skin and climatic condition that individuals are staying in. Here in the Middle East, the extremely hot weather conditions lead to dehydration and dryness which is why having a hydrating serum and moisturizer is vital. Especially during the night when you sleep so your skin can recover. Also, don’t forget a good eye serum and cream. The area around the eyes is far more sensitive and needs a special formula to nourish and treat it.

Protection

With temperatures reaching over 50 degrees during the Summer – no one should be stepping outside their home without sunscreen on. In the past, many women chose not to wear sunscreen simply because it was oily on the skin and can make one look shiny – however these days there are so many to choose from including sunscreens that are mattifying. Whatever you decide, it’s important to apply sunscreen daily on your face, neck, and hands if possible.

Purify Pores

Introducing a purifying mask to your skincare routine will also help to keep breakouts and blackheads at bay as it will lift all dirt and deep clean pores as well as hydrate and nourish the skin. Clay masks are great for the hot GCC climate conditions. Ingredients such as dead sea minerals as well as various clays are great for oily or combination skin as well.

Final Touches

The best makeup products are the ones that fit your individual needs and skin type. It can be easy to get caught in the hype of social media and experiment with every new trend, however if there is one thing to keep in mind in 2022 – It is to take your time to observe trends, educate yourself about them and see if they will benefit you personally or not. When it comes to makeup – Keep it simple and enhance your natural beauty as seen on celebrities at the MET gala.

Makeup guru, Charlotte Tilbury explains the move to clean and simple looks seen on the red carpet. “Blakes look was inspired by warm toned metals and copper starting with a bronzed contour on the skin. Her eyes were washed with a combination of matte browns for structure and metallic rose golds and coppers to play off her Versace gown. I made her lips a gentle terracotta tone to bring some brightness to the makeup palette.”
