Six governorates begin receiving applications for family visas

On the first day of implementation of the ministerial decision to allow residents to submit requests for family visas the general departments of residency affairs in the six governorates received about 2,000 applicants, all of those whose applications were not received for various reasons.

Security sources told Al-Rai that “the residency affairs departments received the applications of only those who meet the conditions, and that the number did not exceed about 500,” noting that “some of the applicants had deficiencies, while others did not meet the conditions, and a third category submitted applications for bringing in their parents, and this matter is currently suspended, and no decision has been issued in this regard.”

The sources revealed that “a majority of applicants are Arabs, and that the lion’s share of applications were submitted to the Farwaniya and Hawalli the Residency Affairs Departments.

However the sources explained that “there is a trend in the Residence Affairs Sector to receive applications for family visas through the Ministry of Interior website” or the Sahel application to reduce congestion at residency affairs departments, regulate the work mechanism, and ensure that work permits or salary certificates are not tampered with or falsified.
