‘Silence is no longer an option — the blood of Palestinians has been shed enough’

'A just and lasting peace in the region is only possible through a two-state solution based on international legitimacy, including Security Council resolutions and the Arab Peace Initiative' -- His Highness the Crown Prince Sheikh Sabah Al-Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah

“A just and lasting peace in the region is only possible through a two-state solution based on international legitimacy, including Security Council resolutions and the Arab Peace Initiative.”

Speaking on behalf of His Highness the Amir Sheikh Meshaal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah at the emergency Security Council session on the situation in the Middle East, His Highness the Crown Prince Sheikh Sabah Al-Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah said this in a powerful address to the United Nations, reaffirming the unwavering stance of Kuwait and the GCC on the Palestinian cause.

His Highness affirmed that this is the sole path to ending the occupation, guaranteeing the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people, and establishing their independent state on the June 4, 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital.

Highlighting the dire humanitarian toll, His Highness described the nearly two-year-long tragedy in Gaza as a living example of genocide and ethnic cleansing, noting that more than 60,000 innocent civilians — mostly women and children — have lost their lives under siege, bombardment, and destruction.

He condemned in the strongest terms the Israeli escalation, including the treacherous attacks targeting Qatar, stressing that the security of all Gulf states is indivisible: “Our security is one, our position is one, and our destiny is one.”

Warning against attempts to undermine the two-state solution through settlement expansion, forced displacement, and the imposition of a fait accompli, His Highness urged the international community — especially the Security Council — to uphold its responsibility, ensure accountability for war crimes, and safeguard the Palestinian people’s right to self-determination.

He praised the recent recognition of the State of Palestine by several countries during the high-level international conference on the peaceful settlement of the Palestinian issue, calling such steps courageous, just, and aligned with international law.

Reaffirming the GCC’s solidarity with the Palestinian people and all nations subjected to aggression, His Highness cautioned that these crimes extend beyond Palestine, threatening regional and international security as a whole. He called for immediate, practical action to stop the aggression, deliver humanitarian aid, protect civilians, and end the illegal occupation.

“The blood of the Palestinian people has been shed enough, and enough innocent lives have been lost,” His Highness concluded.

“Silence is no longer an option. The responsibility now rests on the entire international community to create the path toward a two-state solution and lasting peace.”
