Al-Qabas reported that the Chinese e-commerce platforms SHEIN and TEMU are gaining significant business in Kuwait, with SHEIN delivering about 20,000 orders daily and TEMU over 8,000, reflecting the growing demand for affordable fashion and consumer goods in the country.
What’s more is that these Chinese e-commerce companies such as TEMU and SHEIN; are gaining global traction, driven by increasing demand for their diverse products, low purchasing and shipping costs, and competitive pricing, which make them highly appealing compared to their counterparts worldwide.
After the Chinese company Alibaba dominated the e-commerce sector in China, and Walmart and Amazon in the United States, TEMU has emerged as a strong contender, threatening the dominance of these giants by topping the list of the most downloaded applications in both countries.
For its part, SHEIN captured 50% of fast fashion e-commerce sales in the United States by the end of 2022, and recorded global sales exceeding $32 billion in 2023, marking a 40% increase compared to 2022.
