Sheikha Suhaila named ‘UN Ambassador for Community Partnership’

Sheikha Suhaila Fahad Al-Sabah has been honored with the esteemed global designation of ‘UN Ambassador for Community Partnership’ by the Regional Network for Social Responsibility for her remarkable contributions in advancing community partnership and social responsibility on national and Arab fronts,

The official conferral ceremony took place within the framework of the ‘8th Conference and Award for Community Partnership and Social Responsibility for Financial Institutions and Islamic Banks in 2024,’ hosted by Kuwait on May 13.

The event was held under the honorary patronage of His Excellency Dr. Abdullah Maatouq Al-Maatouq, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the International Islamic Charity Organization.

Sheikha Suhaila Al-Sabah, a prominent figure in the field of community work, holds the position of Honorary Member of the Arab Fund for the Care of Social Responsibility Research. Additionally, she serves as the Editor-in-Chief of the Gulf and Arabian Peninsula Studies Journal, a peer-reviewed scientific journal published by Kuwait University.

In a statement following the conferral of this professional title, Sheikha Suhaila Al-Sabah expressed her deepest gratitude to the Regional Network for Social Responsibility for selecting her as the ‘UN Ambassador for Community Partnership.’ She emphasized that this honorary position would enable her to contribute to promoting positive practices that enhance community responsibility through partnerships with various institutions, including governmental, private, and non-governmental organizations.

Sheikha Suhaila further elaborated on the role of the UN Ambassador for Community Partnership, highlighting the following key responsibilities:

• Raising awareness about the importance of community cooperation in achieving sustainable development goals and fostering dialogue and understanding among various stakeholders.
• Supporting the establishment of effective partnerships between different sectors to achieve sustainable development and address social and environmental challenges.
• Providing support and assistance in implementing projects and initiatives aimed at improving living conditions in local communities, such as education, health, and environmental projects.
• Working to expand the scope of impact by encouraging popular participation and strengthening dialogue among various stakeholders in areas promoting sustainable development.
• Offering guidance and advice to local governments, non-governmental organizations, and local communities on strengthening partnerships and achieving social and environmental goals.
