Sheikh Jarrah receives first batch of Kuwaitis returning from Iran

Deputy Foreign Minister Ambassador H.E. Sheikh Jarrah Al-Jaber Al-Sabah personally welcomed the first group of Kuwaiti nationals evacuated from the Islamic Republic of Iran, who arrived via Turkmenistan in the early hours of Saturday morning, reflecting Kuwait’s commitment for the safe return and well-being of its citizens from abroad.

The reception at Kuwait International Airport marked the beginning of the official return process for citizens stranded in Iran, and comes in implementation of the evacuation plan directed by Kuwait’s political leadership. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has been working closely with Kuwaiti embassies in the region to ensure a smooth and secure operation, reports Al-Rai daily.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed its deep gratitude to the authorities in both Turkmenistan and Iran for their cooperation and facilitation, which were instrumental in the success of this complex cross-border evacuation. These efforts included the safe transit of citizens by bus from Mashhad, Iran to Turkmenistan, followed by their airlift to Kuwait.

The Ministry reaffirmed that it is continuing its efforts round-the-clock to ensure the safe repatriation of all Kuwaiti nationals still in Iran.

Coordination is ongoing with regional partners, relevant agencies, and international authorities to guarantee a high level of efficiency and safety throughout the remaining stages of the evacuation.

This latest development highlights Kuwait’s proactive foreign policy approach and its unwavering stance on protecting the lives of its citizens during crises abroad.
