Sheikh Fahd Al-Yousef ramps up efforts to safeguard Kuwait
First Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Defense, and Minister of Interior urged proactive measures and strict action against security threats, stressing that the law applies to all and that Kuwait’s reputation is paramount.
• Sheikh Fahd Al-Yousef noted that “the delay and negligence of some companies in paying wages lead to sit-ins and strikes, disrupting work and damaging Kuwait’s reputation, particularly in the area of human rights, which is unacceptable.
Sheikh Fahd Al-Yousef, First Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Defense, and Minister of Interior, emphasized the importance of increased efforts, heightened security oversight, and a sustained presence to reinforce national security. He called for proactive problem-solving and strict action against anyone attempting to compromise the country’s security, underscoring that the law will be applied to all, according to Al Rai newspaper.
During a security meeting with the Undersecretaries of the Ministry of Interior, Sheikh Fahd Al-Yousef reviewed the key elements of action plans at the governorate and regional levels, focusing on enhancing efforts to combat crime in all its forms and setting security work priorities for the coming period. He provided several observations and directives to reinforce measures addressing any violations of the law.
In a separate meeting with the governors, Sheikh Fahd Al-Yousef emphasized the importance of continuous communication between the governorates and citizens, as well as promoting community partnership in a way that aligns with citizens’ aspirations, making them active partners in development. He remarked, “We all carry significant responsibilities and duties towards the nation and its people, to preserve its resources—a trust and a precious responsibility upon us all.”
In addition, Sheikh Fahd Al-Yousef reiterated that “Kuwait’s reputation is above all considerations.” During his meeting with representatives of certain companies, he emphasized that “violations of the Council of Ministers’ decision on the timely payment of corporate labor wages will be met with firm legal action and procedures against any non-compliant companies.”
Sheikh Fahd Al-Yousef stated, “No one is above the law, and the same rule will apply to everyone.” He stressed that he would closely monitor companies’ adherence to the regular payment of wages to their workers, noting that “the delay and negligence of some companies in paying wages lead to sit-ins and strikes, disrupting work and damaging Kuwait’s reputation, particularly in the area of human rights, which is unacceptable. Kuwait’s reputation is above all considerations.”
He directed that inspection tours be intensified for all companies with employed labor to ensure compliance with the Council of Ministers’ decision and to confirm that employees have received their salaries. Immediate legal action will be taken against any violating companies.
In addition, Sheikh Fahd Al-Yousef, in the context of strengthening security, signed two contracts with the Government of the United Arab Emirates and the British company SRT to develop sea boats and upgrade the radar system at the General Directorate of the Coast Guard.
He emphasized that this is a strategic step towardsenhancing Kuwait’s maritime security and highlighted that the current and upcoming phases will witness a comprehensive modernization process. This initiative is part of a broader strategic vision to upgrade various security services and reinforce national security infrastructure.
