Sheikh Ahmed Al-Abdullah’s first year in office transforms Kuwait from vision to reality

From day one, the government prioritized launching and working on major projects, establishing partnerships with leading international companies, and creating job opportunities for Kuwaiti youth.

The government, under the leadership of the Prime Minister His Highness Sheikh Ahmed Al-Abdullah, has distinguished itself from all its predecessors with substantial achievements, hands-on field engagement, and the bold implementation of legislative, economic, and financial reforms.

The government’s first year in office has been defined by energy, proactive fieldwork, strategic planning, and the adept handling of challenges and events, leading to accomplishments that have resonated across the nation.

From day one, the government prioritized launching and working on major projects, establishing partnerships with leading international companies, and creating job opportunities for Kuwaiti youth.

Notable among these efforts are the Mubarak Al-Kabeer Port, housing and infrastructure developments, and efforts to ensure administrative oversight across ministries—including monitoring attendance, fighting corruption, and improving coordination.

One of the most striking aspects of this administration’s approach has been its commitment to practical governance. In just under a year—from May 15, 2024, to April 16, 2025—the Cabinet convened 18 meetings, not only at official venues but also at key national sites like the new airport, maternity hospital, and Jaber Stadium.

These on-site sessions reflect a government deeply engaged with the country’s development on the ground. Special sessions were also held to address urgent matters and make decisive interventions when needed.
Education reform has also been a major area of focus, with comprehensive changes introduced to primary and intermediate curricula under the direct oversight of the Minister of Education.

The government’s seriousness about enforcement was underscored by actions such as the compulsory execution of fines to ensure legal compliance.

Perhaps most notably, the government has shown unwavering dedication to the national identity issue, consistently reviewing and following up on recommendations from the Higher Nationality Acquisition Committee, including the approval of reports on citizenship revocations and legal status reviews.

This underscores its determination to uphold national integrity while navigating complex social and legal dynamics. In all these areas, the government has reaffirmed its intention to deepen private sector involvement and accelerate strategic agreements—particularly with China—to drive Kuwait’s future development.
