Securitymen arrest sorcerer in sting operation for practicing witchcraft

The Ministry of Interior has announced the arrest of a man accused of practicing magic, sorcery, and fortune-telling in exchange for money.

The ministry said the arrest came after receiving credible intelligence about the suspect, who was reportedly deceiving citizens and residents by claiming he could solve family and financial issues through supernatural means, reports Al-Jarida daily.

After confirming the accuracy of the information, and armed with a search and arrest warrant the suspect’s home was raided and during the raid plainclothesmen seized various items associated with witchcraft, including books, paper talismans, unidentified materials and liquids, and money.

This in addition to special garments reportedly used for a practice known as al-Tabeet — a ritual associated with sorcery.

According to the Ministry, the suspect was arrested nearly 20 years ago by the Financial Crimes Department on similar charges. At that time, legal measures were taken and he was required to sign a formal pledge not to repeat such activities.
