‘Security Tsunami’ in Egypt targets TikTok celebrities; arrests, investigations, shocking allegations galore

In what has been described as a “security tsunami,” Egyptian authorities have cracked down on social media influencers — particularly TikTok personalities — and taken into custody several people who stand accused of spreading indecent content, promoting immorality, and undermining societal values.

The arrests sparked widespread debate online and intensified with rumors linking some to alleged organ trafficking activities, according to Al-Rai daily.

Egyptian security and judicial sources confirmed that the campaign was driven by multiple reports and legal complaints, leading to arrests of well-known figures such as “Shaker Mahzoor,” “Madahem,” “Umm Mecca,” “Suzy Al-Urduniya,” “Umm Jana,” and Alia Qamroun, known as “Alia Manadeel.” Authorities seized large sums of money in multiple currencies, drugs, electronic devices, and weapons during the raids.

The Public Prosecution has launched a comprehensive investigation, and forensic analysis is underway on seized devices. Raids are continuing in Cairo and other governorates, with further arrests not ruled out.

Lawyer Nahla El-Gendy revealed that she and other legal professionals had filed formal complaints against several influencers, accusing them of spreading obscene content and violating family values.

Members of Parliament, including Major-General Ali Al-Assas and MP Ahmed Badawi, voiced strong support for the crackdown, warning digital platforms to comply with Egyptian laws or face consequences.

Meanwhile, actress Wafaa Amer denied accusations linking her to organ trafficking. Her legal team confirmed she is in Egypt and has filed complaints against individuals behind the defamatory claims, including the operator of a page titled “President Mubarak’s Daughter,” who is already under arrest.

The Ministry of Interior emphasized it would continue to take firm legal action against anyone proven to be threatening social or moral order online.
