Security integration is key to protecting borders and combating smuggling, says Al-Omar

Saleh Al-Omar, Deputy Head of the General Administration of Customs for Ports, Research and Customs Investigation Affairs, has stressed on the importance of close cooperation and integration among security agencies to safeguard Kuwait’s borders and confront smuggling attempts in all their forms.
In a statement issued on Saturday, the Customs Department said Al-Omar made the remarks during an inspection tour of the Al-Nuwaiseeb and Umm Al-Maradim border crossings, conducted in cooperation with the Coast Guard.

The visit came in line with the directives of the First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, Sheikh Fahd Yousef Saud Al-Sabah, and upon the invitation of the Director General of the General Administration of the Coast Guard, Brigadier General Sheikh Mubarak Ali Al-Yousef Al-Sabah, reports Al-Rai daily.
The tour falls within the framework of strengthening cooperation and security integration among the concerned authorities, reviewing operational mechanisms, and enhancing joint coordination at border crossings.

During the visit, Al-Omar underscored the importance of continuing field inspections, closely monitoring workflow, listening to employees’ observations and suggestions, and overcoming obstacles to improve performance efficiency and raise readiness levels.
He also praised the vital role played by the Coast Guard and the Police Aviation Wing in supporting the national security system and protecting the country’s land and sea borders.

The statement noted that the tour aimed to review procedures in place at border ports, assess customs and security measures, and evaluate operational readiness, with the objective of improving performance efficiency and facilitating procedures without compromising customs security.
Al-Omar conducted an on-site inspection of port facilities and reviewed the level of coordination among Customs, the Coast Guard, and Police Aviation personnel, reiterating that integration among security agencies is essential to confronting smuggling and protecting national security.
The tour forms part of Customs’ ongoing field program implemented in line with the directives of the security leadership and its continuous efforts to develop the customs work system and strengthen coordination with security agencies, contributing to the protection of the homeland and the maintenance of security and stability.
The visit was attended by the Director General of the Police Aviation Wing, Brigadier General Salem Al-Shehab, as part of broader efforts to enhance coordination and security integration among the authorities responsible for securing Kuwait’s borders.
