Second Arab Women’s Sailing Championship kicks off in Kuwait today

The Secretary-General and Chairman of the Sailing, Rowing, and Kayak Committee at the Kuwait Sea Sports Club, Khaled Al-Fodari, confirmed the completion of all preparations for hosting the Second Arab Women’s Sailing Championship, which begins today, December 2 and run until December 5.

He noted that major efforts are being made by Championship Director Ibrahim Al-Furaih and the organizing team, especially with the wide participation of 45 athletes representing nine national teams: the UAE, Oman, Bahrain, Iraq, Egypt, Algeria, Libya, Sudan, in addition to the Kuwait national team.

The championship will also feature an elite group of international referees from Morocco, Algeria, Italy, Poland, France, and Russia.

The competitions, held in the coastal area of the Sailing, Rowing, and Kayak Committee headquarters at Messila Beach, will include three races starting at 10:00 AM for the following classes: Optimist – ILCA 4 – ILCA 6.

The closing ceremony will take place at the club’s headquarters in Salmiya at 6:00 PM on Friday, in the presence of the President of the Arab Sailing Federation, Sheikh Khalifa bin Abdullah Al Khalifa.

Separately, the championship will also feature a meeting of the Executive Committee of the Arab Sailing Federation, scheduled for 10:00 am on Thursday at the Mövenpick Hotel, in the presence of the Federation President Sheikh Khalifa, First Vice President Khaled Al-Fodari, the remaining vice presidents, Executive Committee members, and the General Secretariat.

In a statement published on the Federation’s website, Sheikh Khalifa Al Khalifa and Secretary-General Saeed Zada praised Kuwait, represented by the Public Authority for Sport and the Kuwait Sea Sports Club, as well as the efforts of Championship Organizing Committee Chairman Khaled Al-Fodari, for their significant role in supporting and promoting sailing sports, enhancing women’s participation in this championship, and creating all conditions necessary for its success.
