Saudi-led coalition warns of direct action against threats to Yemen ceasefire

. . . vows to protect civilians, support Yemen mediation efforts

The Saudi-led coalition supporting the legitimate Yemeni government announced on Saturday that it will respond directly to any military movements in Yemen, stressing that its actions aim to ensure the success of Saudi-Emirati mediation efforts and protect civilians.

According to the Saudi Press Agency (SPA), coalition spokesman Major General Turki Al-Maliki said the measures come in response to a request from Yemeni Presidential Leadership Council President Dr. Rashad Al-Alimi to safeguard civilians in Hadramawt, following reported human rights violations by armed elements affiliated with the Southern Transitional Council.

He added that the withdrawal of Transitional Council forces, handover of camps to Homeland Shield Forces, and restoration of local authority responsibilities are central to reducing escalation.

General Al-Maliki emphasized that the Joint Forces Command of the Coalition remains steadfast in supporting the legitimate Yemeni government and called on all parties to exercise restraint, bear national responsibility, and cooperate with peaceful solutions to maintain security and stability.

Amid the unfolding situation in Yemen’s eastern provinces, Dr. Al-Alimi convened an emergency meeting of the National Defense Council to discuss the escalation in Hadramawt and Al-Mahra.

He urged the Saudi-led coalition to assist the Yemeni armed forces in enforcing a ceasefire, supporting mediation efforts, and taking necessary measures to protect civilians, highlighting the serious repercussions of unilateral actions by the Transitional Council on regional security.
