Robotics, digital systems, and training at the heart of Kuwait’s health vision
Health Ministry sets 2028 strategy focused on innovation and human resources, says modern technology and skilled workforce key to better healthcare as Kuwait expands robotic surgeries, smart systems under 2028 health plan

Minister of Health Dr. Ahmed Al-Awadhi said investment in both human resources and health technology forms the foundation of the ministry’s strategic plan.
He stressed on the importance of equipping medical facilities with the latest devices while focusing on the human element capable of operating them to improve healthcare and quality of life.
Speaking at the opening of the workshop “Drawing a roadmap for activating the health technology assessment System” — which was attended by senior officials, department heads, and medical authorities — Dr. Al-Awadhi highlighted that in recent years, the ministry has opened many facilities fitted with modern equipment, reports Al-Rai daily.
The next step, he said, is ensuring citizens are trained to manage these technologies efficiently, reduce waste, and improve governance in healthcare spending.
The Minister praised the transformation brought by robotic surgeries in Kuwait, noting that patients now undergo procedures with minimal incisions and are discharged within 24 hours — reducing complications and enhancing recovery.
He also underlined the importance of the rational use of medicines, stating that while Kuwait provides access to the best drugs available worldwide, priority must be given to selecting what best suits citizens’ needs and ensuring safe, effective usage.
Al-Awadhi added that digital transformation extends beyond medical care, pointing to the rollout of a smart fingerprint attendance system for over 70,000 employees, replacing outdated methods and streamlining administrative processes.
Looking ahead, the Minister confirmed that the Ministry has set a roadmap through 2028, centered on investing in health technology and human capital. This strategy, he stressed, is being implemented with his direct support and in close collaboration with all ministry leaders.
