Retired MOI officer gets five years for attempted robbery in Fintas
Appeal upholds lower court verdict; weapon malfunction foils robbery attempt

The Court of Appeal upheld the verdict of a lower court and sentenced a retired Ministry of Interior officer to five years in prison with hard labor after finding him guilty of stealing a taxi, attempted robbery, and breaking into a money exchange shop in the Fintas area.
According to the case files, the accused stole a taxi before attempting to rob a money exchange outlet, where he allegedly used a weapon to threaten an employee. The robbery failed after the weapon malfunctioned, prompting the suspect to flee the scene.
The court upheld the charges related to vehicle theft, armed robbery, and attempted robbery, ruling that the severity of the crimes required a firm judicial response.
The accused has been referred to the competent authorities to begin serving his sentence.
