Record levels of electrical loads and a significant increase in consumption
It reached 13,000 megawatts, a rate higher than that recorded at this time annually.

The Ministry of Electricity, Water and Renewable Energy announced on Friday afternoon that a power outage had hit parts of the Egaila area due to the failure of four sub-feeders at the main transformer station. The Ministry of Electricity stated via its Twitter account that “emergency teams are on site to restore power as quickly as possible.”
The country’s electrical load index recorded a significant increase on Friday, surpassing the 13,000 megawatt mark. This coincided with the heat wave sweeping the country in recent days, with temperatures reaching 46 degrees Celsius in several areas.
This indicates increased energy consumption due to the increased use of air conditioning and refrigeration equipment. Peak power consumption on Friday afternoon reached approximately 13,050 megawatts, one of the highest levels recorded for this time of year, reflecting the significant pressure on the country’s electricity grid
The Ministry of Electricity, Water and Renewable Energy confirmed its readiness to deal with these high loads through emergency plans and preventive maintenance, calling on citizens and residents to rationalize electricity consumption, especially during peak hours.
Power cut for maintenance In addition, the Ministry of Electricity, Water and Renewable Energy announced the implementation of maintenance work on some secondary transformer stations in the six governorates, which will result in a power cut – starting from Saturday, April 26, until Saturday, May 3. The Ministry of Electricity added that the maintenance period is subject to increase or decrease depending on the nature and conditions of the work
