Reckless driver apprehended after running over on-duty traffic officer in Al-Sabahya

The Ministry of Interior announced that the General Traffic Department arrested a reckless driver, who ran over an officer from the General Traffic Department, while he was performing his duty of stopping vehicles, in the Al-Sabahya area.
In a press statement today, Thursday, the Ministry explained, that the incident was a result of the officer’s brave attempt to stop the vehicle that was being driven by a reckless person.
Shockingly, instead of stopping, the reckless and unruly driver deliberately collided with the officer, in an attempt to escape from the scene.
As a result, immediately after the accident, and based on the directives of the First Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Defense and Minister of Interior, Sheikh Fahad Al-Yousef, teams from the General Traffic Department cordoned off the Al-Sabahya area, and intensified efforts to identify the driver and his location.
Soon the unruly driver was arrested and referred to the competent authorities, for completing legal procedures against him and hold accountable, for behavior that not only threatens the safety and security of personnel, but the society as well.
The Ministry of Interior indicated that the officer’s condition is stable and he is receiving the necessary medical care and attention. It further wished his speedy recovery.
Moreover, the Ministry stressed emphatically, that it will not hesitate to confront such reckless behaviour, and it will continue its efforts to enhance security and safety on the roads, especially in protecting security personnel while performing their duty.
