Radiology departments are a pillar of accurate diagnosis and advanced treatment

Minister of Health Dr. Ahmed Al-Awadhi has said radiology departments play a vital role in Kuwait’s healthcare system, describing them as one of the main pillars of accurate diagnosis and the development of effective treatment plans for patients.
In a press statement issued on Saturday during a ceremony organized by the Ministry of Health’s Radiology Departments Council to mark World Radiography Day, observed annually on November 8, Dr. Al-Awadhi highlighted the occasion’s significance as it coincides with the 130th anniversary of the discovery of X-rays, a milestone that revolutionized modern medicine and diagnostic practices.
He explained that the Ministry’s participation aligns with its mission to promote health education and public awareness.
The exhibition featured informative displays demonstrating the differences between imaging technologies such as CT scans, MRI, and ultrasound, along with explanations on their safety and impact on various patient groups, including pregnant women.
Dr. Al-Awadhi noted that the Ministry aims, through such initiatives, to enhance community confidence in the healthcare system and underscore the importance of radiological examinations in both diagnosis and treatment.
He further affirmed that Kuwait possesses some of the most advanced radiological equipment in the region, including hybrid systems that combine magnetic resonance imaging and positron emission tomography (PET/MRI) — technologies not available in many countries worldwide.
He added that the Ministry continues to upgrade this vital sector by procuring cutting-edge medical equipment and adhering to the highest international safety and quality standards, stressing that radiology departments are among the most compliant with these standards across Kuwait’s healthcare facilities.
The exhibition included educational and scientific pavilions showcasing the services and innovations of the radiology departments, reflecting the Ministry’s commitment to keeping pace with technological advancements and enhancing the quality of healthcare services provided to the community.
