
Qatar Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad and UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer on Friday stressed joint work with international parties to uphold the US-Iran ceasefire and build toward a lasting peace deal.
The Qatari Amiri Diwan said the remarks came during a meeting at Lusail Palace in Doha to discuss regional and international developments.
At the outset, the Amir welcomed the UK premier, praising strong bilateral ties and expressing appreciation for Britain’s positions. The UK Prime Minister renewed condemnation of Iranian attacks on Qatar, affirming full solidarity and support for measures to safeguard its sovereignty and stability.
Both sides welcomed the US-Iran ceasefire, stressing its importance in de-escalation and enhancing regional stability. They underscored the need to consolidate the truce and build toward a permanent agreement ensuring regional security, stable supply chains and continued global energy flows through Hormuz Strait.
The two sides also held a bilateral meeting reviewing cooperation and ways to enhance it, affirming the importance of continued coordination and consultation.
