
Doha announced that its air defense systems and armed forces successfully intercepted multiple aerial threats targeting the country, according to a statement carried by the Qatar News Agency.
The Ministry of Defense said the Qatari Emiri Air Force shot down two SU-24 aircraft approaching from the Islamic Republic of Iran, attributing the operation’s success to heightened readiness, security vigilance, and close coordination among relevant military and security authorities.
The ministry added that air defense units intercepted seven ballistic missiles, while five drones were neutralized through joint operations conducted by the Qatari Emiri Air Force and the Qatari Emiri Naval Forces after several areas across the country were targeted earlier in the day, reports Gulf News.
Officials stressed that all threats were dealt with immediately upon detection in accordance with established operational plans, confirming that the missiles were intercepted before reaching their intended targets.
The Ministry of Defense reaffirmed that the Qatari Armed Forces possess the full capabilities and resources necessary to safeguard the nation’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, pledging a firm response to any external threat.
