Qaruh Island cleanup team targets waste, protects marine life

The Island Cleaning Center team from the Capital Governorate conducted an extensive cleanup operation on Qaruh Island this morning, as part of the ongoing environmental awareness initiative “Our Beaches Are Beautiful.”

The campaign, which aims to preserve Kuwait’s coastal and marine environments, brought together specialized crews equipped with the necessary tools and materials to remove waste and debris from the island’s shores.

The effort focused on collecting plastic waste, discarded fishing gear, and other pollutants that threaten marine life and the island’s natural beauty.

Officials from the Island Cleaning Center emphasized that Qaruh Island, known for its clear waters and rich biodiversity, is a valuable ecological asset that requires continuous care to protect it from the harmful effects of pollution.

They highlighted that such initiatives not only contribute to environmental preservation but also raise public awareness about the importance of keeping beaches and marine areas clean.

The “Our Beaches Are Beautiful” campaign is part of a broader program by the Capital Governorate to maintain the cleanliness of Kuwait’s islands and coastal areas. It encourages public participation through volunteer activities, educational programs, and community outreach, aiming to instill a culture of environmental responsibility among residents and visitors alike.
