PSG lift French Super Cup after penalty shootout win over Marseille in Kuwait

Paris Saint-Germain were crowned French Super Cup champions after defeating Marseille 4-1 on penalties following a 2-2 draw in regulation time on Thursday night at Jaber Al-Ahmad International Stadium in Kuwait.

PSG took the lead through Ousmane Dembélé in the 13th minute before Marseille hit back in the 76th minute through Mason Greenwood.

The match appeared to be heading for a narrow Marseille victory after PSG’s Lien Batshua scored an own goal in the 89th minute, but Gonzalo Ramos struck deep into stoppage time (90+5) to force the game into penalties.

The Parisian side held their nerve in the shootout to secure the title, extending their record as the most successful club in the history of the competition with 14 trophies.
