Proposal to introduce cybersecurity as a separate academic subject
. . . as part of national efforts to advance education and align with global developments in digital security

The National Cybersecurity Center has proposed that the Ministry of Education introduce cybersecurity as a separate academic subject, independent from the existing computer science curriculum, as part of national efforts to advance education and align with global developments in digital security,
The new subject, the Al-Rai daily reports, will be designed and developed in full coordination between the two entities.
An informed source revealed that the center has expressed its readiness to provide all necessary technical support and expertise to implement this important project. The source explained that introducing a dedicated cybersecurity course will help enhance national cybersecurity awareness among students and positively influence Kuwait’s ranking in the Global Cybersecurity Index (GCI).
The source further emphasized that current educational needs require the development of an independent cybersecurity curriculum for all academic levels, reflecting the field’s broad and multidisciplinary nature, which extends far beyond the traditional scope of computer science.
