Private industry to energise youth towards prosperity
The third edition of (My Job) exhibition threw light on the important role of private sector in employing Kuwaiti youth and investing their energies and skills in the labour market.
Dr. Nader Al-Jalal, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research and Acting Minister of Education, on Thursday, stressed the importance of the role of the private sector in employing Kuwaiti youth and investing their energies and skills in the labour market. This will enable them to contribute to the development of their country and society.
In a press statement made after sponsoring the opening of the third edition of (My Job) exhibition, Minister Al-Jalal said that the exhibition serves young recent graduates and allows them to identify job opportunities in the largest national institutions and companies, praising the important role of the private sector in absorbing these energies and attracting them to work.
In a significant move, The Minister invited high school students to visit the exhibition – which is one of the largest gatherings of job opportunities locally and lasts three days – in order to identify the needs of the labour market in the coming periods to choose the required specialisation and get the right job for them.
He praised the distinguished organisation of the exhibition and the support of state institutions and bodies for it, expressing the hope that it will result in the acceptance of the largest number of applicants to work and the start their careers successfully.
Whereas, Najat Al-Yousef, Deputy Director General of National Manpower Affairs on the assignment of the Public Authority for Manpower, expressed happiness with the Authority’s supervision of this exhibition. She shared her keenness to support young people looking for work in the private sector and the importance of guiding and guiding young people in this regard.
Moving ahead, Al-Yousef called on the private sector to provide more employment opportunities at a time when “the latest statistics of the Authority monitored about 7,900 job seekers,” indicating the importance of employing young people, developing their skills and investing their ideas and creativity.
For his part, the Director General of the General Authority for Youth, Nasser Al-Sheikh, stressed in his speech at the opening ceremony of the exhibition the keenness and interest in enhancing the capabilities of young people and providing them with opportunities for success and excellence.
Similarly, he also stressed upon in providing job opportunities, especially in the private sector to help the youth secure a regular source of income, which would guarantee them with a decent life and consequently enable them to develop career for a better future.
The Sheikh said that the Youth Authority is working in partnership with the relevant state institutions through its programs and projects to provide young people with the appropriate skills. These would help them compete in the labour market and provide the state with the needs of distinguished national cadres, considering this in fulfillment of its national vision for youth.
He pointed out that the Authority has recently provided about 70 jobs in the field of health services and 50 other jobs in the field of insurance whose contracts will be signed soon. It also provided job opportunities in multiple other fields through its program (labour makers), which it evaluates periodically in coordination with the Public Authority for Manpower.
Explaining further, Nasser Al-Sheikh mentioned that the Authority is also developing a national agenda for the skills needed by the state during the future in all relevant sectors, whether in the education sector, work or youth work. This comes at a time when its strategy seeks to harmonise the country’s needs for specialisations and link them to the labour market in coordination with state institutions.
He stated that the Authority will soon launch a comprehensive guidance and career guidance program for high school students to draw career paths for them, starting with choosing a specialisation and receiving guidance from experts to start in the early educational stages and succeed in their career in line with the country’s directions, obligations and the needs of the labour market.
