Prince Harry cleared of intimidation allegations in charity dispute

Prince Harry, the younger son of King Charles III, has been cleared of allegations of bullying and intimidation made by Sophie Chanduka, the chair of Sentebale — a charity he co-founded in 2006 to support children affected by HIV/AIDS in Africa.

At the end of March, Prince Harry announced his resignation as patron of Sentebale, following a dispute with the board chair.

The UK’s Charity Commission found no evidence of harassment, misogyny, or racism within the organization but criticized all parties for mishandling the internal dispute.

The controversy erupted when Chanduka, a Zimbabwean lawyer appointed as chair in 2023, accused the Duke of Sussex of harassment and intimidation during an internal conflict. Prince Harry resigned from his role as patron in March 2025 and strongly denied the accusations, calling them lies.

The Charity Commission’s report, released Wednesday, did not take disciplinary action but highlighted significant governance failures within Sentebale.

It faulted the organization for unclear roles and poor conflict resolution, which damaged its reputation.

Prince Harry’s spokesperson expressed concern that the fallout would impact the vulnerable children the charity supports, rather than those responsible.

He added that the Duke will now pursue new avenues to continue supporting children in Lesotho and Botswana.

Chanduka welcomed the Commission’s findings as validation of concerns she raised privately earlier this year but did not directly address Prince Harry’s exoneration in her response.
