Prime Minister urges faster execution of Kuwait–China development projects

His Highness the Prime Minister Sheikh Ahmad Al-Abdullah Al-Sabah has urged the ministerial committee responsible for following up on the implementation of bilateral agreements between Kuwait and China to intensify their efforts.

Chairing the committee’s 20th meeting at Bayan Palace, the Prime Minister emphasized the importance of advancing strategic cooperation in line with the aspirations of His Highness the Amir Sheikh Mishal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah and His Highness the Crown Prince Sheikh Sabah Al-Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah, reports Al-Jarida daily.

The meeting reviewed progress in key development projects under the signed memoranda of understanding (MoUs), including the Mubarak Al-Kabeer Port development, power systems and renewable energy, low-carbon waste recycling, housing and wastewater infrastructure, free economic zones, and environmental cooperation and anti-desertification efforts.

Ambassador Samih Jawhar Hayat, Assistant Foreign Minister for Asian Affairs and rapporteur of the committee, announced that a technical delegation from the Ministry of Public Works will travel to China next week to coordinate on the sewage treatment project.

He also highlighted outcomes of the eight-day visit by a Chinese government delegation, which included field visits to land in need of reclamation and proposals for afforestation and environmental rehabilitation, in line with national directives.

The meeting was attended by key ministers and officials from various government bodies, underscoring Kuwait’s commitment to the joint implementation of the national strategic plan in cooperation with China.
