Prime Minister orders quick implementation of development projects, closer coordination with Chinese firms

His Highness the Prime Minister Sheikh Ahmad Al-Abdullah Al-Sabah chaired a meeting at Bayan Palace today of the ministerial committee responsible for monitoring the implementation of agreements and memoranda of understanding signed between the State of Kuwait and the People’s Republic of China.

During the meeting, His Highness instructed the committee members to intensify follow-up efforts to ensure the full implementation of the agreed plans, stressing the importance of effective communication and coordination with all assigned Chinese government companies.

He urged strict adherence to pre-set timetables for major development projects and emphasized the need to expedite completion.

The meeting reviewed detailed updates from relevant government agencies on the execution of bilateral agreements, particularly regarding the environmental protection and desertification control project in northern Kuwait, the sewage treatment project undertaken by a specialized Chinese company, and progress on renewable energy projects in Abdaliya and Shaqaya (phases three and four).

It also discussed the Mubarak Al-Kabeer Port project, with implementation expected to commence following the completion of technical studies next month.

Assistant Foreign Minister for Asian Affairs and committee rapporteur Ambassador Samih Jawhar Hayat reaffirmed the government’s commitment to coordinating strategic projects with Chinese partners to drive economic growth and development.

He stressed the importance of maintaining clear timelines and submitting weekly progress reports, underscoring the committee’s dedication to supporting Kuwait’s economic vision and national development goals.
