Prime Minister gets firsthand information on progress of new Kuwait International Airport T2 project

His Highness the Prime Minister Sheikh Ahmed Al-Abdullah Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, accompanied by several ministers, went on an inspection tour on Tuesday of the new Kuwait International Airport Terminal 2 (T2) project.

The visit took place on the sidelines of the weekly Cabinet meeting, which was held at the new terminal building.
During the visit, His Highness and the accompanying ministers were briefed by the Minister of Public Works, Dr. Noura Al-Mashaan, and the Chairman of the Directorate-General of the Public Authority for Civil Aviation (PACA), Sheikh Hamoud Mubarak Al-Hamoud Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, along with project engineers and officials, on the latest developments and implementation progress of the T2 project, reports Al-Rai daily.

His Highness the Prime Minister underscored the importance of the new T2 project as one of Kuwait’s major national development initiatives, describing it as a qualitative leap in the country’s air transport sector.

He called for continued cooperation and coordination among all relevant government entities, particularly with the Ministry of Public Works, to overcome any obstacles and accelerate progress in line with the scheduled timeline for completion and operation.

Sheikh Ahmed Al-Abdullah expressed his appreciation to Dr. Al-Mashaan, Sheikh Hamoud Al-Hamoud, and all officials and agencies involved — including the Ministry of Interior, Ministry of Finance, State Audit Bureau, Fatwa and Legislation Department, and the Central Agency for Public Tenders — for their dedicated efforts in advancing the project’s execution.

For her part, Dr. Al-Mashaan reviewed the current status of work on the three major components of the project:
- Package 1: Construction, completion, furnishing, and maintenance of the new passenger terminal.
- Package 2: Construction and completion of service buildings, access roads, and parking facilities.
- Package 3: Construction and maintenance of aircraft aprons, taxiways, and supporting service buildings.
Meanwhile, Sheikh Hamoud Al-Hamoud highlighted the DGCA’s ongoing coordination with relevant authorities to ensure that operational readiness procedures for the new terminal are completed efficiently.
The T2 project, upon completion, is expected to serve as a modern aviation hub that meets international standards, enhances passenger experience, and strengthens Kuwait’s position as a regional transport and logistics gateway.
