Power usage in green zone in spite of power load hitting 17,142 MW

. . . as temperatures soar to 51°C

The electricity load index reached 17,142 megawatts on Wednesday afternoon as temperatures soared to 51°C. Despite the extreme heat, the index remained in the green zone, indicating that the Ministry of Electricity, Water and Renewable Energy strategies to manage peak-hour consumption were effective.

These efforts included the launch of the “Save” awareness campaign at the start of summer and coordination with factories to reduce energy use between 11 a.m. and 5 p.m., reports Al-Jarida daily.

Meanwhile, the ministry has rolled out an updated smart fingerprint system offering over 20 digital services to employees, accessible via mobile phones.

The system aims to simplify work processes and improve efficiency. Work is ongoing to expand the system to external ministry sites, led by the Information Systems Center’s fingerprint team.
