Police uniform ban in six public places, violations to face investigation

The Undersecretary of the Ministry of Interior, Lieutenant General Sheikh Salem Al-Nawaf, issued a circular banning the presence of police force members in military uniform in certain public places.

In the circular numbered 22 of 2025, Lieutenant General Al-Nawaf stated that it had been recently observed that some members of the police force were appearing in military uniforms at occasions such as weddings and funerals. This was in violation of Article (5/15) of Law No. 1968/23 regarding the Police Force System and its amendments, which prohibits police force members from engaging in acts or appearances that are inconsistent with their military dignity.

Al-Nawaf added that all members of the police force are prohibited from being present in military uniform in the following places:

  1. Cooperative Societies
  2. Central Markets
  3. Commercial Complexes
  4. Wedding and Event Halls
  5. Cemeteries
  6. Condolence Councils

Al-Nawaf pointed out that individuals whose work requires them to be present in the aforementioned places are exempt from this directive. He emphasized that anyone who violates this regulation will be referred to the competent authority for investigation and potential disciplinary action.

In conclusion, Al-Nawaf called on Assistant Undersecretaries, Directors General, Directors of other departments, and all Ministry departments to ensure the precise implementation of the circular.
