Police find stolen car sans money; suspect used cash to buy drugs

Personnel from the General Traffic Department in Hawalli have solved a vehicle theft case, of the stolen car and the 1,200 dinars that were stolen from the vehicle and the suspect said he used the stolen money to buy drugs.

According to a complaint filed by a 55-year-old Kuwaiti man on May 2, his 2018 saloon car was stolen from Maidan Hawalli. In the car was KD 1,200 he said, but did not point a finger at any suspect.

The case was referred to the investigations department. A detailed description of the vehicle was circulated, leading traffic patrols to intercept the stolen car and apprehend the suspect who was behind the wheel.

During interrogation, the accused confessed to stealing the vehicle and admitted using the stolen cash to purchase drugs. Investigators confirmed that the suspect has a prior criminal record involving theft and drug-related offenses.

The case, along with the investigation report, has been referred to the Public Prosecution for legal action.
