PM chairs meeting to accelerate implementation of development projects
Kuwait-China agreements under review

His Highness the Prime Minister Sheikh Ahmad Al-Abdullah Al-Sabah chaired the 17th meeting of the Ministerial Committee tasked with following up on the implementation of agreements and memoranda of understanding (MoUs) signed between the governments of Kuwait and China.
During the meeting today at the Bayan Palace, the committee reviewed progress on several major development projects outlined in the MoUs, with a focus on cooperation on the Mubarak Al-Kabeer Port project; advancements in electrical power systems and renewable energy; development of a low-carbon, green waste recycling system; collaboration in housing development; enhancement of environmental infrastructure for wastewater treatment and development of free zones and economic areas, reports Al-Jarida daily.
His Highness directed the committee to closely monitor all aspects of project implementation and coordinate with relevant ministries and agencies to speed up procedures in cooperation with Chinese counterparts. He commended the committee’s efforts in proposing practical solutions to overcome challenges and in streamlining inter-agency processes to ensure timely project delivery.
Assistant Foreign Minister for Asian Affairs and Committee Rapporteur, Ambassador Samih Jawhar Hayat, provided a detailed briefing on the ongoing implementation of the signed agreements.
He highlighted the near-daily consultations taking place between Kuwaiti and Chinese officials, particularly in follow-up to the agreements signed during the visit of His Highness the Amir Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah to China.
Ambassador Hayat also reviewed coordination efforts with China on joint environmental initiatives, including combating desertification, rehabilitating ecosystems, expanding afforestation programs, and addressing sand encroachment—reflecting the high-level directives guiding Kuwait’s environmental policy.
The meeting was attended by Abdulaziz Al-Dakhil, Head of the Prime Minister’s Diwan; Dr. Noura Al-Mashaan, Minister of Public Works; Abdullatif Al-Mishari, Minister of State for Municipal and Housing Affairs; Noura Al-Fassam, Minister of Finance and Minister of State for Economic Affairs and Investment; Dr. Subaih Al-Mukhaizeem, Minister of Electricity, Water and Renewable Energy; Sheikh Dr. Meshaal Jaber Al-Ahmad, Director General of the Kuwait Direct Investment Promotion Authority; Counselor Salah Al-Majed, Head of the Fatwa and Legislation Department and Ambassador Samih Jawhar Hayat, Assistant Foreign Minister for Asian Affairs and Committee Rapporteur.
The meeting reaffirmed Kuwait’s commitment to accelerating development in line with its strategic partnership with China.
