Pilgrims gather at Mount Arafat to perform the greatest pillar of Hajj

Today, the pilgrims continued to arrive at Mount Arafat to perform the most significant pillar of Hajj — standing at Arafat, known as Wuquf. Despite soaring temperatures, the spiritual atmosphere remains strong as worshippers engage in acts of devotion throughout the day.

Saudi authorities have advised pilgrims to stay inside their tents during the peak heat hours to protect themselves from potential heat-related illnesses, reports news agencies.

Throughout the day at Arafat, pilgrims devote their time to prayer, supplication, and recitation of the Holy Qur’an, culminating at sunset. This moment marks a pivotal spiritual milestone in the Hajj journey.

At sunset, pilgrims begin their descent to Muzdalifah, where they will perform the Maghrib and Isha prayers. Following the tradition (Sunnah) of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him), they will spend the night under the open sky, resting until dawn on the 10th of Dhul-Hijjah and praying the Fajr prayer before proceeding to the next rites of Hajj.

Mount Arafat is the only Hajj site located outside the boundaries of the Sacred Mosque in Makkah. Situated approximately 22 kilometers from the city, it is a vast plain distinguished by the 30-meter-high Mount of Mercy (Jabal al-Rahmah), where it is believed the Prophet delivered his Farewell Sermon.
