Physiotherapy in Kuwait witnessed qualitative leap

The Director of the Department of Physiotherapy Services at the Ministry of Health, Abdullah Zaman proudly stated today that physiotherapy in Kuwait has witnessed a qualitative leap in the health services provided, as per the latest international protocols, thanks to the efforts of its founders and members from the leading specialized professions.

Zaman said in a statement to the Kuwait News Agency on the ministry’s celebration of the ‘World Physical Therapy Day’ which falls on September 8, that this year’s slogan is “Physiotherapy and Lower Back Pain” to shed light on pain that may affect people across all ages, sometimes without a specific cause.

He said that lower back pain has become a global problem that requires promoting and spreading awareness of the importance of the role of physical therapy in alleviating pain, adding that physical therapy is one of the health professions related to helping people regain their health.

He added that the celebration comes within the framework of the Ministry’s and the Department of Physiotherapy Services’ keenness to develop the physiotherapy profession, raise its efficiency. He praised the dedication and efforts of male and female physiotherapy specialists, in order to achieve the vision of New Kuwait 2035, which aims to achieve high-quality health care.

Zaman pointed out that on this day, the Department of Physiotherapy Services is keen to enhance the role of the physiotherapy profession in society and highlight the role of the physiotherapy specialist, which is based on awareness, prevention and treatment of these pains.

As reported by Q8press he explained that the role of the physical therapist lies in alleviating these pains using a range of techniques, whether manual therapy or therapeutic devices, in addition to advice related to a healthy body, staying active, and modifying the home and work environments.

The physical therapist determines therapeutic exercises for each patient after examining him and evaluating his health condition. These include flexibility, stretching and strengthening exercises that work to increase flexibility and strengthen the back muscles. Equally important is the role of the physical therapist in helping individuals suffering from lower back pain to perform their daily activities and teach them how to overcome it.

He stated that the physiotherapy departments celebrated their international day in all public and specialized hospitals and primary care centers, where physiotherapy specialists were present to provide advice, guidance and answer the public’s questions.
