Philippines Govt raises minimum wage for overseas domestic workers
Mandatory medical checkups and housing standards emphasized; wage hike driven by rising costs and high demand; impact on Kuwait -- salary adjustment equivalent to 20 dinars

The Government of the Philippines has increased the minimum monthly wage for overseas domestic workers by $100, raising it from $400 to $500.
The authorities have instructed that overseas domestic workers undergo annual medical checkups. Employers must also provide safe, habitable housing with proper ventilation, sanitation, and lighting.
Domestic workers specialist Bassam Al-Shammari explained that the increase reflects global inflation, rising living costs, and growing demand for Filipino labor worldwide.
In Kuwait, the new wage policy will translate into an approximate increase of 20 dinars for domestic workers, though the overall financial impact on employers is considered limited.
