Pharmacy conference in Bahrain focuses on development, innovation, and future outlook

Dr. Ahmed Taqi, President of the Kuwait Pharmaceutical Association, stressed the importance of strengthening cooperation among pharmacists’ associations in the Gulf region to unify efforts aimed at advancing professional practice and broadening the scope of clinical pharmaceutical services.

His remarks came during an interview with KUNA on the sidelines of the Third Bahrain Pharmacy Conference, held under the theme: “Stimulating Development and Change and Shaping the Future of Pharmacy.”

Dr. Taqi, who led a Kuwaiti delegation of 12 pharmacists participating in the event, emphasized the association’s active commitment to participating in regional scientific gatherings that enrich the pharmaceutical sector, facilitate knowledge exchange, and reinforce the integration of professional practice with scientific research and continuous development, reports Al-Rai daily.

He lauded the conference’s focus areas, including keynote lectures, specialized workshops, and interactive discussions addressing key challenges in patient-centered care, pharmacoeconomics, drug innovation, biomembrane research, and antimicrobial resistance.

In addition to the scientific program, the event featured an exhibition that allowed the Kuwait Pharmaceutical Association to showcase its initiatives and engage with counterparts from various countries.

The Kuwaiti delegation praised Bahrain’s achievements in scientific research and pharmaceutical education, particularly its efforts to align with the Kingdom’s economic vision through international academic partnerships.

Dr. Taqi also highlighted the upcoming launch of a Bahrain branch of the University of Strathclyde, describing it as a strategic step toward creating a regional hub for pharmaceutical innovation and research. He noted that the initiative will foster greater Gulf-wide scientific collaboration—especially with Kuwait—in areas such as pharmaceutical economics, drug discovery, and entrepreneurial development.
