Peak rainfall expected tomorrow afternoon

The Kuwait Meteorological Department (KMD) has announced that the current spell of rain affecting the country since Sunday evening is expected to continue today, Tuesday, with scattered light to moderate showers reaching their peak tomorrow afternoon, Wednesday, and continuing into the early hours of Thursday. The precipitation is forecast to be heaviest over central and southern regions.

Thunderstorms and possible hail expected

KMD Director Abdulaziz Al-Qarawi told the Kuwait News Agency (KUNA) that the showers are expected to be accompanied by thunderstorms of varying intensity, ranging from moderate to heavy. Hailstorms are also possible, and winds may exceed 60 kilometers per hour, raising dust in open areas.

Al-Qarawi explained that the combination of a surface low pressure system and a moist air mass, coupled with a deepening upper-level trough, will lead to reduced visibility and elevated sea waves.

The weather is expected to improve gradually on Thursday morning, with decreasing cloud cover and reduced rainfall chances. However, there is a possibility of fog forming in the evening. Rain chances are expected to return on Friday, primarily over northern and coastal areas.
