Paris to celebrate 100 years of French fashion in style

The fashion show will connect each decade of French fashion evolution with an Olympic sport, spanning from athletics and breakdancing to fencing and taekwondo.

A momentous occasion awaits fashion enthusiasts as Paris gears up for a unique joint fashion show showcasing designs from France’s most illustrious designers on June 23.

Serving as an “opening celebration” for the forthcoming Olympic Games just a month away, this event promises to be a captivating blend of style and athleticism.

The show, ‘Vogue World’ organised by Vogue International, will take place outdoors at the Place Vendôme, featuring a blend of fashion shows, entertainment, performances, and delightful surprises.

At a press conference in Paris, Vogue editor-in-chief Anna Wintour informed Agence France-Presse that she successfully navigated significant hurdles with the authorities in the French capital to secure the evening’s venue at this iconic Parisian square. The choice of June 23 was intentional, as it coincides with International Olympic Day. Wintour described the event as a homage to 100 years of French fashion, marking the period since the last Olympic Games held in Paris in 1924.

The show will connect each decade of French fashion evolution with an Olympic sport, spanning from athletics and breakdancing to fencing and taekwondo.

Several distinguished designers, including Frenchman Jacquemus, Balmain’s artistic director Olivier Rousteing, and Louis Vuitton’s artistic director Pharrell Williams, participated in this rare collaborative show. All three attended the press conference that launched the event.
