PAM moves to modernize services and update labor law

. . . plans labor law amendments, automated systems, and flexible worker transfers

The Director-General of the Public Authority for Manpower, Rabab Al-Osaimi, said the Authority is intensifying efforts to modernize and enhance its services, particularly in assessing workforce needs and monitoring absconding employees.

She lay emphasis on the ongoing weekly meetings with the Ministry of Communication to fully integrate systems across government institutions, to automate updates and streamline inter-agency coordination.

Al-Osaimi noted that the Authority handled 25 million transactions, with 15 million processed through automated systems which were introduced in 2018, reports Al-Jarida daily.

She emphasized that the labor law is under review, with upcoming workshops and consultations involving company representatives to ensure amendments reflect recent developments in the labor market.

She also announced that a direct link has been established with the Ministry of Interior to monitor the deposit and disbursement of monthly salaries.

In addition, the Authority is preparing new job titles aligned with the Kuwaiti Professional Employment Guide, reviewing university degree equivalencies, and studying the feasibility of allowing workers to transfer between contracts regardless of their original contract type, pending approval from the First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior.
