Pakistan envoy hails Kuwait’s role in promoting peace, highlights investment opportunities

Pakistan’s Ambassador to Kuwait, Dr. Zafar Iqbal, on Tuesday praised Kuwait’s consistent efforts in fostering regional and international peace, commending the country’s commitment to dialogue and the peaceful resolution of conflicts.

His remarks came during a speech at a reception hosted by the Pakistani Embassy in Kuwait to mark Pakistan’s National Day. The event was attended by Minister of Commerce and Industry Khalifa Al-Ajeel, alongside numerous ambassadors, diplomats, and representatives of international organizations.

Ambassador Iqbal lauded Kuwait’s support for Pakistan’s development and emphasized the enduring and cordial relations between the two nations, describing them as rooted in “a shared history, mutual respect, and a common vision for peace and prosperity.”

Highlighting the growing economic ties, Iqbal pointed to substantial potential for expanding cooperation. “While we’ve made strides in trade and investment, there remains vast untapped potential,” he said. “Sectors such as energy, infrastructure, agriculture, information technology, and tourism in Pakistan offer promising opportunities for Kuwaiti investors.”

He also acknowledged the significant role played by the Pakistani workforce in Kuwait in strengthening bilateral ties and expressed appreciation for the care and support extended to the Pakistani community residing in the country.

Addressing regional affairs, Ambassador Iqbal voiced deep concern over ongoing conflicts, particularly the Israeli military campaign in the Gaza Strip. He reiterated Pakistan’s firm stance calling for an immediate and unconditional ceasefire and reaffirmed support for the establishment of an independent Palestinian state along the June 4, 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital.

The ceremony underscored the strong and evolving partnership between Pakistan and Kuwait, grounded in mutual cooperation and a shared vision for stability and growth in the region.
