PAI in sweeping crackdown to restore order, raise standards in Kuwait’s industrial sector
Authority has reaffirmed its commitment to empowering the industrial sector, raising operational efficiency, and implementing government directives aimed at strengthening Kuwait’s economic environment—supporting growth, boosting national industries, and improving the overall business climate

The Public Authority for Industry carried out an extensive on-site inspection sweep on Monday across a number of industrial and service plots in Al-Rai and Al-Shuwaikh.
The tour was led by Minister of Commerce and Industry and Chairman of the Authority, Khalifa Al-Ajil, joined by a full team of specialized regulatory bodies.

The mission: to directly assess compliance with designated land-use regulations, evaluate the efficiency of ongoing operations, and immediately address any violations undermining the integrity of Kuwait’s industrial environment.
Minister Al-Ajil examined the conditions of several industrial, service, and commercial plots under the Authority’s supervision. He was briefed on factory activities, expansion plans, operational performance, and the challenges confronting industrial investors—insights expected to shape forthcoming corrective action and sector reforms.

A broad coalition of state institutions participated in the tour, including the Kuwait Fire Force, Kuwait Municipality, the Environment Public Authority, the Public Authority for Manpower, the Ministry of Interior, and the Ministry of Commerce and Industry.
Their unified presence signals a newly reinforced approach to multi-agency oversight—one designed to ensure strict compliance with safety, environmental, licensing, labor, and land-use laws, while enabling authorities to act on violations swiftly and decisively.

This inspection comes on the heels of the Minister’s decision to establish specialized committees headed by three senior judges. These committees have been mandated to conduct a rigorous, detailed survey of all industrial plots, document breaches, and apply legal measures without hesitation or compromise.
The Authority highlighted that these measures form part of a sustained reform drive that has already seen more than 50 non-compliant industrial, craft, and service sites withdrawn over the past year—an unprecedented figure in the Authority’s history. This, it said, demonstrates the Ministry’s seriousness in confronting disorder and restoring discipline across the sector.
Recent months have witnessed a marked intensification of inspection campaigns, with joint teams deployed to ensure optimal land use and prevent practices that could weaken competitiveness or damage the operating environment. These efforts fall within a wider government strategy to enhance governance, improve product standards, and create a secure, attractive, and investment-friendly industrial landscape.
“We will not allow industrial plots to be exploited outside their legal purpose,” Minister Al-Ajil said during the tour. “The era of chaos is over. We will take firm, deterrent action against any violator. What we witnessed today reaffirms the need for continued, intensive inspections to curb violations and restore order. Our message is clear: the law applies to everyone, without exception. Major violations will be met with immediate closure and referral to the competent authorities.”
The Minister noted that several factories demonstrated exemplary compliance—an outcome he praised—yet emphasized that the government’s responsibility demands correcting any shortcomings that could harm the national economy or impede progress in Kuwait’s industrial development. Industrial plots, he stressed, must serve their intended purpose and operate in a manner that strengthens the quality and competitiveness of local products.
The Authority reiterated that this campaign aligns with the Minister’s earlier remarks at the Kuwait Industry Award ceremony, where he underscored that compliance is not optional but fundamental to industrial growth, product excellence, and Kuwait’s ambition to position itself as a leading industrial hub in the region.
Inspections will continue according to a phased action plan covering all industrial zones, ensuring land is used appropriately, fostering genuine investment, enhancing transparency, and eliminating misuse in all its forms.
Concluding its statement, the Authority reaffirmed its commitment to empowering the industrial sector, raising operational efficiency, and implementing government directives aimed at strengthening Kuwait’s economic environment—supporting growth, boosting national industries, and improving the overall business climate.
